Winter: Bodmin Moor in the Snow
There’s something magical about Bodmin Moor under a blanket of snow. It’s as though the world pauses, frozen in time, offering a serene canvas of white that transforms even the most familiar landscapes into something extraordinary. Recently, I braved the chill and ventured into this wild expanse, camera and drone in hand, to capture its winter majesty.
Bodmin Moor, with its rugged tors, ancient stone formations, and open vistas, has always been one of my favorite places to shoot. It's the landscape of my childhood. Add deep snow into the mix, and it’s like stepping into a dream.
I focused on capturing the contrasts: the jagged edges of granite tors poking through the snow, the undulating hills soft and smooth under their icy blanket, and the interplay of shadows and light. With my drone, I could sweep over the moor, revealing the scale of this winter wonderland. The aerial perspective was breathtaking—an endless sea of white dotted with hints of history
As the sun dipped low and the cold began to bite, I packed up, heart full and memory cards brimming. Driving home, the moor fading in my rearview mirror, I reflected on how days like this remind me why I do what I do. Photography isn’t just about the images; it’s about the experience, the way it connects me to the world, to myself, and to the stories I want to tell.
